Dancing with YInMn Blue
©2022 Alicia R Peterson, Dancing with YInMn Blue. Acrylic on 24 x 36-inch convex oval canvas. Photographer: Peter Scheer.
YInMn Blue is named for its components of yttrium, indium, and manganese. It was an incidental discovery by research scientists at Oregon State University. No, they were not looking for a new blue. As soon as the color became available to artists, I paid an embarrassing amount for a small tube of this paint. I had to have it. This painting was created with gestures made directly on the canvas. I was in flow with a new color! May you dance with YInMn Blue!
