Welcome to the (mostly) TRUE THINGS Storytelling Plus Make A Scene Improv Show! Get ready for a night of laughter, heart and entertainment at The Performing Arts Studio. Join us on Sat, Mar 23, 2024 at 7:00 PM for an evening featuring a brilliant line-up of performers telling true stories from their own lives, which will inspire spontaneous improvised scenes. The (mostly) true tales may include some slightly altered details, and our improv actors create scenes on the spot. One storyteller tells their story with no little lies at all, and audience members who figure out who it is get a prize. Don't miss out on this unique blend of storytelling, improv comedy and a game!

YES, I am returning to the stage with my dear improvisation team, Overthinkers Anonymous.

I began studying applied improvisation in 2013 with Jude Treder-Wolff. It seems like a strange connection for an abstract artist. It’s actually a perfect fit. The nurturing of spontaneity, creativity, thinking out of the box, “Yes, and-ing” what life presents, are all integral to both processes.

Am I nervous? You bet! Do I know we will rock it? Yes! The best part of applied improvisation is knowing my team has my back. The tenets of improvisation are that I am not there to be the star. (Yes, I do want to be the star!) I am there to make my team be the stars. When I falter or freeze, seamlessly my team rescues me. When you have no set lines, anything goes. So, when I have stood on stage and made incomprehensible noises as stage fright has taken over, someone jumps in with a life raft. And, it might be to join me in incomprehensible noises---and then we have a scene.

Please join us for giggling, gasping, and good times. The show will be composed of true stories melded with improvisation scenes.

Not local? Drats!, but you can join Lifestage for online classes.

And now to art! I have been in a creative crisis of circle versus square. And, oh, have I gone big. Stay tuned for new works.
